The Youth Development Specialist prepares and implements programs to support academic success, healthy lifestyles, and good character for club members. Responsibilities include supervising youth, providing homework help, and maintaining a safe, organized environment.
A high school diploma or GED is required, and experience working with children is preferred. Candidates must possess a valid driver's license and be able to pass TB, drug, and fingerprint screenings.
This is an On-Call position. Shifts will be assigned on an as needed basis.
The Youth Development Specialist (YDS) prepares and implements programs, supervises club members, and evaluates activities and outcomes within a specific program area, supporting our priority outcome areas of Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyles, Good Character and Citizenship. (This is an afterschool/summer contracted position with Redlands USD and is subject to Redlands USD guidelines & Rules.)
KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities): Prepare Youth for Success
1. Create an environment that facilitates the achievement of Youth Development.
2. Effectively implement and administer services and activities for students. 3. Ensure the safety of students is considered when implementing programs and activities. 4. Ensure program space/area is organized and cleaned during and after use.
Supervision of Youth
5. Provide guidance, affirm positive behavior and act as a role model and mentor to youth. 6. Provide a safe environment through active supervision, setting clear expectations and maintaining clean program areas. 7. Never leave members unsupervised and implement and follow School behavioral guidelines.
Maintains close, daily contact with Club staff (professional and volunteer), Club members, and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines/instructions; instruct; and advise/counsel.
Maintains contact with external community groups, schools, members' parents and others to assist in resolving problems.
