The TVI is responsible for providing teaching and case management services, including developing and implementing IEPs for students with visual impairments. The role involves conducting assessments, monitoring progress, and collaborating with parents and interdisciplinary teams.
Candidates must hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education with certification for Teaching Exceptional Children – Visually Impaired (K-12). Preferred qualifications include 1+ years of school-based experience and a fingerprint background clearance.
Develop, implement, and assess individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities. Deliver instruction tailored to meet the diverse learning styles and needs of students. Collaborate with parents, educators, and specialists to ensure a comprehensive approach to student learning and support. Monitor student progress and adapt instructional strategies to improve outcomes. Maintain accurate records of student performance, behavior, and progress to inform ongoing instruction and planning. Create a welcoming, safe, and productive classroom environment that encourages positive behavior and learning. Provide guidance and support to classroom staff in implementing educational strategies for students with special needs. Bachelors or Masters Degree or higher in Special Education Certification for Teaching Exceptional Children – Visually Impaired, Grades Primary through 12. 1+ years of experience in a school setting preferred Experience working with visually Impaired children Organizational and time management skills Proficient in use of technology Fingerprint background clearance Ability to collaborate with school staff and parents with a demonstrated ability to exercise a high level of tact and discretion in both internal and external communications Physical Requirements Working and playing with students requires that employees must be able to perform the necessary physical movement functions, as needed, such as lifting, sitting, walking, standing, crawling, and engaging with students in all physical locations and activities, while adhering to the duties outlined by the district.
