- Shift: AnyBE A PART OF SOMETHING GREAT This position supports the work of the YMCA, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Kids Club Counselor will provide direct care for children ages 6 weeks - 12 years in our Kids Club room. The staff member will act as a teacher at least 4 hours per week, and will organize appropriate activities and play with participant’s ages 6 weeks to 12 years. The Kids Club Counselor understands the Kenosha YMCA has zero tolerance for abuse of youth in its programs by employees or volunteers and will follow child abuse prevention policies, comply with mandated reporting requirements, and cooperate with law enforcement. Job responsibilities Arrive to work dressed properly with appropriate uniform and name tag Sign In/Out accurately on time sheet and turn in time sheet according to deadlines set on payroll schedule and review for error Ensure health & safety of each participant. Greet parents and participants in friendly and professional manner. Plan, conduct and participate in activities with participants. Assist toilet trained participants with bathroom duties. Notify parents when child’s diaper is soiled or change diaper if authorized. Remove any unsafe items. Do not release child to any person other than the person that dropped child off. Initiate the rotation of toys. Clean room, equipment & supplies. Sign in & outs / record totals, etc. Submit requisitions to Coordinator for supplies before they are needed. Maintain program supplies and equipment. Ensure all toys are thoroughly cleaned and disinfected. Qualifications 16 years old Ability to provide proof of current CPR and First Aid Certification Experience working with children Ability to work cooperatively with youth, parents, staff Joy and satisfaction in working with children Ability to work with general supervision Background check cannot contain offenses restricted by state law
