The Health Aide supports the delivery of comprehensive health services for children and families enrolled in Educare Omaha’s Early Head Start and Head Start programs. This position performs a variety of health-related duties including student health assessment within scope of practice, health records management, data entry, health screening support, medication documentation, student monitoring, and family communication. The Health Aide works collaboratively with site leadership, families, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure compliance with health regulations and program requirements.

Full Time (40 hours per week, Monday-Friday); 12 Months. There is a variation of schedules available with the hours falling between 7:00am-5:30pm.
⭐duties and responsibilities
Student Health Support
Provide first aid and basic health support for ill or injured children within scope of practice.
Respond to medical emergencies including anaphylaxis, asthma incidents, seizures, and injuries, following established protocols and emergency procedures.
Monitor students with health needs and provide health office support as necessary.
Maintain accurate medication administration documentation and assist with implementation of Emergency Action Plans (EAPs) and Individual Health Plans (IHPs).
Assist with monitoring and documentation of special dietary needs in collaboration with nutrition staff.

Maintain accurate and current health records in child files and data systems.
Complete data entry and record updates in a timely and accurate manner.
Support health tracking and follow-up activities to ensure compliance with Head Start Performance Standards and state licensing requirements.
Screenings and Referrals
Assist in completing required health screenings, including vision and hearing screenings, under RN supervision and after required training.
Monitor referrals resulting from screenings and support families in obtaining follow-up services.
Communicate with families regarding missing documentation and health follow-up needs.
Health Education and Family Engagement
Respond to health-related questions from children, families, and staff within scope of practice.
Provide families with health and safety education, resources, and tools on approved topics.
Support families in understanding program health requirements and accessing healthcare services.
Health Office Management
Maintain a clean, organized, and fully supplied health office.
Monitor health office inventory and communicate supply needs to supervisor.
Assist in prevention and control of communicable diseases in accordance with organizational and public health guidelines.
Collaboration and Communication
Communicate concerns related to student health, safety, suspected abuse, or neglect to supervisor and School Director in accordance with mandated reporting requirements.
Participate in interdisciplinary meetings and contribute health-related insights while maintaining confidentiality.
Provide support at other Educare Omaha locations as needed.
Attend meetings, professional development, and trainings as assigned.

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Medical Assistant, CNA, health-related training, or relevant coursework preferred.
Valid driver’s license required.
Ability to obtain and maintain CPR and First Aid certification.
Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
Experience working with young children and families preferred.
Knowledge of health documentation, confidentiality standards, and basic child health practices preferred.
Ability to pass all required background checks and meet compliance standards.
