The substitute teacher ensures academic continuity by following lesson plans and maintaining a positive, disciplined classroom environment. They are also responsible for fostering the spiritual and academic growth of students in alignment with Catholic teachings.
Candidates must have a minimum of a high school diploma, be at least 21 years old, and possess a valid Texas driver's license. Safe Environment training certification and successful completion of background screenings are required.

Acts as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic church Continuously grows in the ministry by participating in religious ceremonies, training sessions, and reflection activities as directed Faith & Mission: Support the school's Catholic identity, lead or participate in daily prayers, and integrate Christian values into daily interactions with students Instructional Continuity: Execute the lesson plans and learning goals left by the regular teacher. Provide educational instruction, reinforce skills, and collect assigned student work Classroom Management: Maintain an engaging, respectful, and disciplined classroom environment Supervision: Monitor students during transitions, lunch, recess, and other campus activities to ensure a safe environment Reporting: Leave detailed notes for the regular teacher regarding class progress, completed work, and any behavioral incidents Performs other duties as assigned Mental/Physical Demands: Ability to carry, pull, push, lift, or move objects 10 pounds or more Ability to maintain composure under duress; maintain emotional control under stress Able to exercise patience with young children and their needs Able to bend, kneel, or crouch down to work with young children Organization Improvement and Morale: Demonstrates a professional attitude as a member of diocesan staff Maintains confidentiality in matters of assigned department and the diocese Serves as a representative of the diocese displaying courtesy, tact, positivity, and discretion in all interactions with colleagues and community served Carries out commitments made to diocesan colleagues and community served Employs professional ethics in relationships with diocesan colleagues and community served Positively contributes to the overall mission and values of the Diocese of Corpus Christi to promote a positive organizational culture
Reports to Principal Part-time, non-exempt Must successfully complete pre-employment screening, including criminal history background check, motor vehicle record review (MVR), and drug screening Certification in Safe Environment training provided by the Office for Safe Environment and Child and Family Resources is required Must adhere to all Diocesan policies and procedures QualificationsQualifications: Minimum education required: High School Diploma or equivalent Elementary education experience preferred Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with diocesan policies and procedures Valid Texas driver’s license Must be 21 years of age or older Required Skills and Abilities: Strong oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills Ability to handle multiple projects and prioritize tasks Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and members of the community Ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretion General use of computer hardware and basic office software, including Microsoft Office Suite
