Position Overview As a Life Skills Mentor, you will support youth ages 16–20 in a group home setting as they build independence and life skills. This role requires patience, consistency, and the ability to remain calm and composed during challenging situations.

  • Key Responsibilities
  • Support daily living skills, including hygiene, cleaning, and overnight routines
  • Provide structure, supervision, and behavioral support
  • Respond appropriately to verbal and physical behaviors using approved techniques
  • Administer medications in accordance with training and policy
  • Ensure safety and maintain a calm, supportive environment during overnight hours
  • Build positive relationships that promote trust, confidence, and independence

Qualifications

  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license held for at least 2 years (permit time excluded)
  • Mental health and behavioral management experience strongly preferred
  • Experience working with youth who may exhibit verbal or physical aggression is a plus
  • Ability to set healthy boundaries and remain calm under pressure
  • Physically able to lift and transfer up to 50 lbs
  • Willing to complete 3 weeks and 2 days of paid new hire training (Mon–Fri, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM)
