Job description
PURPOSE
Under the supervision of the CoRe Project Lead, the CoRe Assistant provides essential technology, video game assistance, tabletop role playing set up, as well as engaging youth during groups and outreach. This position plays a key role in modeling CoRe’s values of Courage, Cooperation, Respect and Resourcefulness for youth during groups. CoRe Assistant will support facilitation of CoRe skills that help children/youth stay safe, calm under pressure, communicate respectfully and persuasively, expand the child/youth’s connection to their family and community, make lasting and valuable friendships, and develop achievable goals for themselves and their community.
Overview
Under the supervision of the CoRe Project Lead, the CoRe Assistant supports the implementation of CoRe programming through technology setup, participant engagement, and program operations. This role assists with gaming and group-based activities, contributes to a safe and supportive environment for youth, and reinforces the core values of Courage, Cooperation, Respect, and Resourcefulness. The CoRe Assistant supports program delivery by assisting facilitators, engaging youth participants, and ensuring proper setup, functionality, and maintenance of program equipment.
Essential duties
- Support delivery of CoRe programming aligned with program goals and standards
- Promote positive youth engagement and reinforce CoRe values during all interactions
- Maintain a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for youth participants
- Ensure proper handling, use, and maintenance of program equipment and materials
- Support compliance with agency policies, data tracking expectations, and confidentiality standards
- Demonstrate alignment with ASC values, policies, and practices
- Collaborate effectively with program staff to support successful program implementation
Major responsibilities
- Program Support & Youth Engagement
- Support facilitation of CoRe groups and activities by assisting with participant engagement and group operations
- Build positive relationships with youth and contribute to a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive environment
- Model CoRe values and support positive behavior, communication, and peer interaction among participants
- Provide ongoing support to facilitators and youth during program activities
- Assist with outreach efforts to support recruitment and enrollment of youth participants
- Technology & Equipment Support
- Assist with setup, installation, and basic management of gaming systems, laptops, and related technology
- Support troubleshooting of basic technical issues related to program equipment
- Transport, set up, and break down program equipment at program sites and events
- Maintain organization, cleanliness, and inventory of program supplies and equipment
- Program Coordination, Documentation & Operations
- Support collection, review, and organization of participant forms, surveys, and program documentation
- Assist with accurate data entry and maintenance of program records within designated systems
- Participate in program activities, staff meetings, and training sessions as assigned
- Complete administrative tasks, including timesheets and expense reports, in a timely manner
- Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum qualifications
Education
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Experience
Must be at least 18 years of age. Experience working with youth or participating in youth-focused programs is preferred. Experience working with diverse populations and community-based environments is valued.
Special knowledge, skills, and abilities
- Knowledge of video games and gaming platforms, including familiarity with systems such as Steam
- Experience with tabletop role-playing games (e.g., Dungeons & Dragons) preferred
- Basic technical skills related to computer setup, software installation, and equipment troubleshooting
- Ability to engage and build rapport with youth in a positive and respectful manner
- Ability to support group activities and manage minor behavioral challenges calmly and appropriately
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office and data systems
Working conditions
- Ability to lift and transport equipment (up to 30–50 pounds)
- Requires travel to program sites and community locations
- Valid Washington State driver’s license and proof of insurance required; ability to drive as needed
- Ability to support program setup, breakdown, and coordination at various locations
