  • John Paul II Catholic Academy, a Catholic elementary school serving grades PK-8, is seeking qualified and faith-filled Substitute Teachers to support student learning during teacher absences.
  • The ideal candidate will uphold the mission and values of Catholic education, foster a nurturing classroom environment, and deliver instruction aligned with the school's academic and spiritual goals.
  • KEY Responsibilities: Provide instruction based on lesson plans prepared by the regular teacher.
  • Maintain classroom order and promote a positive, respectful, and faith-centered environment.
  • Incorporate Catholic values into interactions and classroom management.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of students at all times.
  • Supervise students in various settings, including the classroom, lunchroom, and outdoor recess areas.
  • Communicate effectively with school staff and leave a summary of the day for the returning teacher.

Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree is required. A Valid teaching credential or substitute permit is preferred. Prior teaching or classroom experience preferred. Practicing Catholic or committed to supporting the mission of Catholic education. Ability to follow lesson plans, manage a classroom, and adapt to a range of grade levels (PreK–8). Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills. Preferred Qualities: Understanding of and commitment to the teachings of the Catholic Church. Experience working in faith-based or private school environments. Flexibility, reliability, and a collaborative spirit. Working Conditions: School hours are typically from 7:45am to 3:00pm; however, they may vary. Must be able to supervise and interact with young children for extended periods.
