Job description

  • Opportunity PsyPhyCare, a division of Business Staffing of America, Inc., is seeking a Pharmacy Technician Instructor to provide classroom and hands-on training within a federally supported residential youth program in Denison, Iowa 51442.
  • Our client operates a comprehensive residential program serving young adults, ages 16–24.
  • The program’s mission is to prepare participants for meaningful employment and independent living.
  • This role provides instructional training in pharmacy technician practices, preparing students for entry-level positions in pharmacies, healthcare facilities, and related environments while collaborating closely with academic and program staff in a structured, community-based setting.
  • Position Overview This is a contract position with full-time and part-time availability, up to 40 hours per week.

  • Location: On-site in Denison, IA(no remote option) Scheduling flexibility may be required to support student engagement, including occasional participation in career development activities or extended learning opportunities. Key Responsibilities The clinician will provide comprehensive on-site mental health services to enrolled students and maintain an active presence within the residential environment.
  • Responsibilities include: Delivering classroom instruction and hands-on training in pharmacy technician fundamentals Teaching topics such as pharmaceutical calculations, medication safety, pharmacy law, inventory management, and prescription processing Preparing students for industry-recognized certification exams (such as Pharmacy Technician Certification Board – PTCB) Demonstrating proper procedures for medication handling, labeling, storage, and pharmacy operations Supervising students during laboratory or simulated pharmacy activities Monitoring student progress, providing academic guidance, and evaluating competency development Maintaining accurate records of student attendance, progress, and performance Ensuring instructional materials meet current industry standards and regulatory requirements Collaborating with academic staff, career counselors, and program leadership to support student success Promoting professional behavior, workplace readiness, and safe practices within healthcare environments

Qualifications

Education / Certification Candidates must meet one of the following: Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) credential from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or National Healthcareer Association (NHA) Active Pharmacy Technician license or registration if required by the State of Iowa Associate’s degree or higher in pharmacy technology, healthcare education, or a related field (preferred) Experience Minimum of two (2) years of experience working as a Pharmacy Technician in a retail, hospital, or clinical pharmacy setting Prior teaching, training, or instructional experience is preferred but not required Experience working with youth or young adults (ages 16–24) in educational or training environments is a plus
