Educates and assists breastfeeding mothers and families while serving as a clinical resource for the healthcare team. Implements family-centered breastfeeding programs through collaboration with pediatricians, obstetricians, and nursing staff.
Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN), a New York State RN license, and IBCLC certification. Candidates must have 5-7 years of technical experience, preferably in Labor & Delivery or Mother/Baby units.
Educates and assists breastfeeding mothers and families to foster a successful breastfeeding experience. Provides direct and indirect patient care as well as serving as a resource for other members of the healthcare team. Ensures implementation of effective family-centered breastfeeding program by ongoing collaboration with pediatricians, neonatologists, obstetricians, and nursing staff; promotes breastfeeding and educates the community in prenatal and postpartum periods. Provides physical and psychosocial support, education, and discharge planning during childbirth hospitalization.
