The teacher is responsible for delivering a research-based Direct Instruction curriculum to K-8 students while maintaining a safe and orderly classroom environment. They must track student progress, manage classroom behavior, and communicate academic growth to parents.
A Bachelor's degree in Education and a valid North Carolina teaching certificate are required. Candidates must be physically capable of standing for long periods and lifting up to 20 lbs.

This position is potentially eligible for an additional Teacher Supplement in addition to the base pay. Our Teachers are paid based on the North Carolina State Salary Scale for Bachelor's Degrees.
Our researched-based Direct Instruction curriculum begins with reading by phonics and writing with attention to penmanship, spelling, grammar, and style. Mathematics, science, music, and art also receive emphasis in the basics with examples and techniques from time-honored classical sources. The children gain a solid base of knowledge well-grounded in the intellectual, aesthetic, and moral traditions of western civilization.

Teacher – Job Responsibilities
The Teacher will have the following experience and capabilities: A Bachelor’s degree in education is required with valid teaching certificate from North Carolina in the area for which candidate is applying. Alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate. A Bachelor’s degree in another subject area with an approved plan for Lateral Entry with an Initial Teacher License. The Roger Bacon Academy will assist in this process for selected candidates. Successfully teaching a large class of diverse learners is a physically demanding job. Constant circulation throughout the room working with individual students requires that the teacher be on their feet at all times during the day. Coursework in Applied Behavior Analysis, Probability and Statistics, Algebra and in the subject specialty departments are highly desirable and will command a salary increment commensurate with the additional work. Physical ability to lift/carry 20 lbs and dexterity to perform the duties and responsibilities of the job.
