Position Summary

The Substitute Teacher is responsible for supervising students, implementing lesson plans provided by the regular classroom teacher, maintaining classroom order, and ensuring a safe and productive learning environment. Substitute Teachers may be assigned to various subject areas and grade levels within the school.

Essential Functions Follow lesson plans and instructional materials left by the classroom teacher Supervise students and maintain a positive, respectful classroom environment Take attendance and complete any required documentation Manage student behavior in accordance with school policies and procedures Provide support and assistance to students during class activities Communicate important classroom information to the regular teacher upon their return Ensure the safety and well-being of all students Follow all school policies, procedures, and emergency protocols Maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times

Requirements

Required High School Diploma or GED At least 25 years of age Ability to effectively supervise and engage high school students Strong communication and interpersonal skills Reliable transportation and punctual attendance Ability to adapt to different classroom settings and instructional needs Commitment to maintaining a positive and professional learning environment Preferred Associate's degree or higher Previous experience working with youth, tutoring, coaching, mentoring, childcare, or education Experience in a school, church, nonprofit, or community-based setting Familiarity with classroom management practices
