The Employment Specialist provides individual support, discovery, and job development services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to secure community employment. Responsibilities include conducting vocational profiles, networking with employers, and providing on-the-job coaching and training.
Requires a two-year degree in Health Services or a related field with two years of experience in health/mental health, including sales and training responsibilities. A valid Oregon driver's license and a clean driving record are mandatory.
The Employment Specialist is responsible for providing individual support services to people with I/DD who are pursuing community employment. Services may include but are not limited to; person centered planning, discovery, skill assessment, volunteer opportunities, job training, customized employment, job retention and networking with employers in the community. This position has a monthly monetary expectation of $5500.00 and is subject to change with 30 day prior notification to the Employment Specialist as part of the job performance expectation.
Employment Specialists provide job development and discovery services for clients in community employment tracks. They need to be able to analyze problems and make decisions on the information. Flexibility is critical, and your schedule is based on the client’s schedule. Employment Specialists are required to be effective role models including appropriate dress, communication and work behaviors for the job the client has. Employment Specialists have a high degree of independence and require personal accountability and motivation to be successful. Must be skilled in refined goal setting and planning considering options and contingencies and foreseeing any potential barriers. Will also be asked to orient and/or train new employees and provide job coaching services as needed. The Employment Specialist is not responsible for any accountability of other team members.
