- K- 8 POSITION OVERVIEW The English Language Acquisition and Development (ELAD) Teacher is responsible for delivering high quality, evidence based instruction and bridge content learning with language development.
- The ELAD Teacher will ensure English Learners meet academic objectives while simultaneously acquiring English proficiency.
- ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Use WIDA ELD data to implement standards-based ELD (English Language Development) instruction for students in grades K-6, including tailored lessons that integrate content with language proficiency.
- Create and implement daily lessons for a 7th and 8th-grade intervention period.
- Complete required test administration certifications and administer WIDA Screener and annual WIDA ACCESS tests.
- Create a supportive, inclusive, and culturally sensitive learning environment that encourages high-quality learning.
- Work collaboratively with classroom teachers, EL paraprofessionals, the EL Director, and administrators to ensure consistency in instructional strategies across grade levels.
- Maintain compliance with Nevada State Board regulations regarding EL students and participate in ongoing professional development.
- REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS THAT SET YOU UP FOR SUCCESS Bachelor’s degree.
- Valid Nevada Teaching License (Elementary, Middle School, Secondary, or Special Education).
- English Language Acquisition and Development (ELAD Endorsement) The incumbent in this position will be required to pass a criminal history background check.
- PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS THAT SET YOU UP FOR SUCCESS Demonstrated experience with ELL students and knowledge of TESL (Teaching English as a Second Language) methods.
- Proficiency in designing language-focused lesson plans.
- Knowledge of the 2020 WIDA ELD Standards Framework.
- Classroom management and engagement strategies.
- PHYSICAL AND TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT Travel between campuses is required from time to time.
- This position requires the need to lift objects (up to 25 pounds) on occasion.
