Salary/Position classification
$1,052.89 per 3-credit course monthly
8.01 hours per week
100% Remote Work Availability: No
Hybrid Work Availability (requires some time on campus): Yes

Purpose of position

The Department of History and American Studies seeks a part-time instructor to teach at least one online, asynchronous section per semester of an ancient and medieval history course.

Duties & Responsibilities

The successful candidate will contribute to the History program through teaching introductory ancient and medieval history.

Required Competencies

Demonstrated ability to situate pre-1500 AD Mediterranean, Near Eastern, and European history within its global context
Effective interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate with faculty, staff, and students
Ability to work with and engage diverse students and colleagues within and outside the Department of History & American Indian Studies.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to teach, inspire, and mentor students.

Minimum requirements
Earned master’s degree in History or relevant field
Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

Earned Ph.D. in History
Experience teaching at the undergraduate level
Experience teaching online, asynchronous course(s)
Demonstrated knowledge of relevant history content
Experience or knowledge of history pedagogy
Demonstrated teaching excellence
