Job description
Position summary
Seeking adjunct faculty to teach Bible/theology/practical ministry courses throughout the academic year. These are undergraduate-level courses that are online and are five weeks long. For part-time adjuncts in the Oklahoma City area, there could be the possibility of one-night per week on-ground/online hybrid courses. Candidates must have access to the internet, able to work remotely, be available for students on a weekly basis.
Essential duties and responsibilities
- Teaching undergraduate ministry courses online throughout the academic year.
- Apply effective best practices when engaging students through announcements and in discussions to promote student critical thinking skills and student engagement in the learning process.
- Assess student performance using appropriate rubrics or other forms of assessment.
- Work alongside the program director to maintain program and course integrity and rigor by effectively using the provided instructional materials consistent with course objectives and program outcomes.
- Maintain expertise in the discipline and in teaching strategies.
- Comply with University academic policies.
- Comply with assessment and evaluation policies and requirements related to students, courses, faculty, and programs.
- Actively engages in promoting student retention, addressing student issues, and promoting a conductive learning environment.
- Keep office hours (2 hours per week).
- Attend regular faculty meetings.
Qualifications
- The successful candidate must be able to perform essential duties satisfactorily and should possess the following:
- Ability to access and use the internet, specifically the online platform (Canvas) used by the University.
- Expertise in the discipline with proven organizational and teaching skills.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team to coordinate and support programs within the School of Ministry and the University.
- Ability to utilize appropriate, contemporary technologies and best practices in teaching.
- Adherence to the Christian objectives and policies of the University.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Master’s degree in Bible, theology, and/or ministry.
- Professional experience in the work of full-time vocational ministry is required.
- Experience teaching in higher education is strongly preferred.
Computer skills
- Must have current knowledge and advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications.
- Must be able to utilize the University’s online platform (Canvas).
- Must be able to utilize the University’s systems.
- Must be able to create videos using Studio or YouTube.
- Must be able to utilize Zoom and/or Google Chats.
