Job description

Kids Only is seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and highly motivated Early Childhood Educator to join our team. This role is responsible for planning and implementing daily activities that support the growth, development, and well-being of young children in a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment. The ideal candidate is collaborative, organized, and committed to upholding the mission and values of EveryAge.

Key responsibilities

  • Child development & classroom management
  • Plan and conduct daily activities that promote optimal growth and development for each child.
  • Prepare and organize educational materials needed to implement daily lesson plans.
  • Maintain an orderly, safe, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment.
  • Observe, record, and report significant individual and group behaviors.
  • Complete all SmartStart assessments and required classroom documentation in a timely manner.
  • Attend required in-service training to meet NC Daycare Law standards.
  • Participate in community activities that enhance professional competence.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Team collaboration & communication
  • Supervise and support personnel assisting with daily group activities.
  • Attend staff and parent meetings and contribute meaningfully to discussions.
  • Share information appropriately with staff while maintaining strict confidentiality.
  • Support and participate in teamwork across the organization.
  • Organizational & compliance responsibilities
  • Support the Mission, Values, and Vision of EveryAge and adhere to the Corporate Compliance Code of Conduct.
  • Ensure an atmosphere that protects the privacy, dignity, and well-being of all residents and children.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including standard precautions, fire/safety/disaster plans, and risk management practices.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all resident, employee, and operational data.
  • Uphold laws and policies that ensure a workplace free from harassment, discrimination, and unsafe conditions.

Qualifications

  • Minimal education
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Must hold, or be actively working toward, a North Carolina (NC) Birth–Kindergarten (B-K) Continuing License or a B-K/Pre-K/K Add-on License issued by the NC Department of Public Instruction.
  • Must maintain the B-K or Pre-K/K Add-on Initial or Continuing License in accordance with G.S. 115C-296 (II) and NC State Board of Education Policy LICN-005.
  • Minimal experience
  • At least one year of childcare experience required.
  • Other qualifications
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be enrolled with the Early Educator Support, Licensure & Professional Development Unit of the Division of Child Development and Early Education.
  • Must have current CPR and First Aid certification, or the ability to obtain certification upon hire.
  • Strong communication, observation, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and uphold professional ethics at all times.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with staff, families, and community partners.
