Overview
Join our welcoming JCC community as an Assistant Teacher in our Shalom Children's Center! The Assistant Teacher collaborates with the Lead Teacher to create a nurturing support system aimed at providing each child with the highest level of individualized care possible. This role works with the Lead Teacher to implement lesson plans, encourage social-emotional growth, and ensure compliance with NC DCDEE standards while fostering strong relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
- What You'll Do
- Support classroom instruction and child-centered learning..
- Foster children's social-emotional development and classroom community.
- Maintain safe, organized environments in accordance with NC DCDEE guidelines.
- Implement classroom scheduled and lesson plans as directed by the Lead Teacher.
- Assist in documentation of individual children's growth.
- Build positive, professional relationships with children, families, and staff.
- What We're Looking For
- High School Diploma and
- Working towards and AA with an NCECC (North Carolina Early Childhood Credential), or
- Associates or Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education plus NCECC (North Carolina Early Childhood Credential)
- Associates or Bachelors degree in a related field, plus an NCECC (North Carolina Early Childhood Credential)
- At least one year of experience in a preschool environment
- Experience implementing a Reggio-Emilia inspired or emergent inquiry learning approach, preferred
- Strong teamwork, flexibility, and communication skills
- Ability to actively engage with children and ensure their safety.
- NC Qualifying Letter (before start date) and CPR/First Aid certification (within 90 days of hire)
- Basic computer proficiency (Outlook, Word, Zoom, communication apps)
