Elementary Physical Education Teacher Socrates Academy Charter School – Matthews, North Carolina

Position Overview Socrates Academy Charter School is seeking an energetic, student-centered Elementary Physical Education Teacher to join our team for the 2026–2027 school year. The ideal candidate is passionate about promoting lifelong fitness, health, teamwork, and character development through engaging physical education instruction for students in grades K–5.

Responsibilities

Plan and deliver engaging PE lessons aligned with the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction Standard Course of Study. Teach age-appropriate physical skills, fitness, sportsmanship, teamwork, and wellness concepts. Create a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment. Assess student progress and maintain accurate records. Organize and supervise physical activities, field days, and school wellness events. Communicate effectively with parents, staff, and administration. Support the school’s mission, culture, and character education initiatives. Collaborate with classroom teachers and participate in school meetings and professional development.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education or related field. Valid North Carolina teaching license in Health/Physical Education (or eligibility to obtain one). Experience teaching elementary-aged students preferred. Strong classroom management and communication skills. Ability to motivate and engage diverse learners. CPR/First Aid certification preferred.
