Position Summary
Assistant Teachers play a key role in supporting the success of the classroom by partnering with the Lead Teacher to implement curriculum, maintain daily routines, and provide a warm, engaging environment for children. They model respectful communication, contribute to documentation, and ensure a consistent experience for children and families. Key Responsibilities Classroom Support & Culture Maintain a calm, respectful presence in the classroom.
Reinforce routines and expectations as set by the Lead Teacher.
Help guide children through transitions, play, meals, and rest.
Curriculum & Learning Engagement Facilitate center-based and small group activities under Lead direction.
Observe and engage children in developmentally appropriate play and learning.
Adapt to changing needs while keeping children safe and engaged.
Child Supervision & Safety Maintain active supervision and awareness of children at all times.
Respond to behavior, accidents, or emotional needs with care and consistency.
Follow health, safety, and licensing guidelines at all times.
Documentation & Communication Log child observations and milestones in Brightwheel.
Support family communication by reinforcing messages from the Lead.
Share daily highlights and build warm, trusting relationships with families.
Team Collaboration Check in regularly with the Lead to align on roles and responsibilities.
Provide honest input, support team goals, and ask for help when needed.
Be open to feedback and participate in professional development.
Minimum Qualifications: Montana Practitioner Registry Level 2 (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
Experience working with young children in a group setting
Familiarity with developmentally appropriate practices
Dependability, emotional regulation, and strong communication skills
