Job description
LOWER SCHOOL ASSOCIATE TEACHER This is a full time position within the Lower School reporting to the Head of Lower School. The Associate teacher will be assigned primarily to one grade within the Lower School, but may also have opportunities to work within other grade levels to meet needs of the students and colleagues, as they arise. Major Responsibilities: Assist in the implementation of grade level programs related to curriculum and student life Assist in the creation of grade level and classroom communities Provide whole, small group, and individualized instruction, nurture wellbeing, motivate and challenge students Lead the classroom when the lead teacher is absent Participate in professional meetings, professional development, and family conferences as needed Provide supervision of students at various times including but not limited to lunch, recess, morning arrival, dismissal. Support a sense of community, social responsibility, and an appreciation and respect for individual and cultural differences Work closely and cooperatively with teaching colleagues and the school administrative team Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, kindness, enthusiasm, a sense of humor, willingness to learn and grow professionally, a cooperative spirit and a commitment to teamwork Assume other duties as assigned
