Position Title: Child Care Assistant Teacher
Job Summary
To carry out the philosophy of The Salvation Army Childcare Center, to assist the classroom teacher, assume responsibility and duties involving the care and teaching of children.
Reports To: Classroom Teacher/Director
Supervises: N/A
Pay Grade: 202
Salary Range
$15.75 - $18.90 Hourly

Candidates must have a passion for fulfilling the mission of The Salvation Army and must be articulate in presenting the same to others.
Candidates must successfully pass the pre-employment background inquiry
Education
High School Diploma or Equivalent.

Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe environment for children
- Follow a daily routine consistently
- Help follow through with plan activities
- Help with general housekeeping duties
- Treat all children with dignity and respect
- Attend all staff meetings and recommended training programs and conferences
- Maintain positive work atmosphere through appropriate conflict management, courteous demeanor, and professional and appropriate communication practices.
- Maintain compliance in The Salvation Army’s “Safe from Harm” Certification. (required)

Physical Demands/ Work Environment
- This Position has a high level of movement and flexibility.
- You must be comfortable working with small children.
- You will be on your hands and knees as well as crouching down several times a day to interact with the children.
- Must be able to sit on the floor with children as well as sit on the small chairs.
- Low impact sports and interaction with the children will often be required as well as lifting twenty-five pounds often and up to fifty pounds occasionally.
- This is a high level noise position with children talking, playing and yelling several times a day.
