Job description

  • The Center for Academic Success & Enrichment is seeking a part-time faculty (professional) tutor to support the School of Physical Therapy. Tutors will offer academic support for didactic and laboratory course work in an in-person and/or virtual format. Students are currently enrolled in our Doctor of Physical therapy program on the Worcester campus.
  • Assist students enrolled in didactic coursework with content acquisition and application, critical thinking, and clinical skill development as it related to learning outcomes for the courses. Content includes but not limited to Anatomy, Pharmacology, Clinical Medicine, Cardiopulmonary, Musculoskeletal and Neuromuscular evaluation and intervention.
  • Offer tutoring session availability in an in-person and/or online/virtual format.
  • Provide tailored guidance as it relates to medical knowledge, clinical knowledge, as well as professionalism for DPT students.
  • Provide strategies for students to actively apply on their own/outside the tutoring session to check for understanding.
  • Collaborate with the applicable course instructor to determine primary content areas to focus on with students.
  • Provide feedback to student specific to subject matter.
  • Uses the University’s learning management and scheduling system to communicate with students and document sessions
  • Provide feedback to the program director as to student progress and/or trends observed while working with students in a tutoring capacity.
  • Provides engaging activities during sessions that demonstrate the real-world applications of concepts covered.
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications

Required

  • Must hold a Masters or Doctoral degree from an accredited PT Program.
  • Active license to practice PT in Massachusetts
  • Commitment to undergraduate, graduate and/or professional education and student success
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Must be able to work independently and effectively interact with a wide array of parties at all levels (students, faculty, administration/staff, alumni, and external constituents, including healthcare industry professionals)
