Job description

Pineview Cottage, northern Michigan’s newest premier assisted living and memory care community located in Harbor Springs, MI. is looking for an energetic part time Activities Specialist to join our growing team! The right candidate will have excellent communication skills and experience in geriatrics, recreation, or social administration. All teachers and creative professionals are welcome to apply!

Responsibilities

  • Works with the Resident Engagement Director and residents to plan, coordinate and lead a wide scope of social and recreational activities with the intent of including all residents in some area of activity
  • Plans off-campus trips for residents, and attends many of the trips
  • Assists in arranging transportation to events and programs when necessary, including bus transportation and other vehicle transportation, scheduling community driver or outside resource
  • Creates, posts, and/or distributes information and material regarding events, programs, activities, etc.
  • Assists with purchasing necessary supplies, films, crafts, etc.
  • Conducts an orientation for new residents, serves as a resource person for residents
  • Alerts social services staff of concerns pertaining to residents
  • Plans and coordinates activities in absence of the Resident Engagement Director

Qualifications

  • Associates degree and two years experience in geriatrics, recreation or social administration
  • Ability to communicate effectively and perform simple arithmetic
  • Must be able to work with others in setting up for events
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Must be able to complete small set-ups independently
  • Must be able to assist residents physically in boarding the bus, sitting, standing and walking
