Position Summary
The Employment Support Specialist plays a vital role in supporting individuals with disabilities with barriers to employment, securing and maintaining meaningful, competitive vocational opportunities in the community. This position provides hands-on job coaching, employment skill development, career exploration, employer engagement, and individualized support. The Employment Support Specialist works collaboratively with participants, employers, Vocational Rehabilitation (VR), and internal leadership to ensure individuals succeed and grow towards independence.
This role requires professionalism, adaptability, strong communication skills, and a passion for helping others reach their potential.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required Must be at least 19 years of age Valid Driver’s license and reliable transportation required Ability to pass required background checks CPR and Mandt certification preferred (required upon hire if not already certified; training will be provided) Experience in human services, education, job coaching, workforce development, or related field is preferred but not required

Duties & Responsibilities
Direct Member Support & Job Coaching Provide individualized job coaching to participants at community job sites (e.g., retail, grocery, hospitality, janitorial, childcare, warehouse, etc.). Support individuals in learning job tasks, workplace expectations, communication skills, and professional behavior. Promote independence by gradually fading support as skills increase. Assist participants with resume development, applications, interview preparation, and job search strategies. Teach workplace soft skills including punctuality, hygiene, teamwork, and communication. Employer & Community Engagement Develop and maintain positive working relationships with local businesses. Attend job fairs, networking events, and community outreach opportunities to build employment partnerships. Collaborate with employers to create inclusive work environments and appropriate accommodations when necessary. Serve as liaison between participant, employer, and agency leadership. Documentation & Compliance Complete accurate and timely documentation of services provided (Therap). Maintain case notes and required program documentation in compliance with agency and Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) standards. Assist with intake of VR referrals as directed by the Director of Supported Employment. Track time, mileage, and service delivery through designated systems (Bamboo). Safety & Crisis Response Ensure the safety and well-being of participants at all times. Follow all health, safety, and emergency procedures at each job site. Participate in CPR and Mandt training (if not currently certified). Work Environment & Schedule Work schedules vary based on participant employment hours and goals. Some evening or weekend availability may be required. Travel between job sites is expected. Work is primarily community-based in various employment settings. Physical activity may include standing, walking, lifting light to moderate items, and supporting participants in active work environments.
