Job description

The history of the aquatics programs at Punahou are long and rich. Aquatic programs plays an integral role in the student experience. The philosophy of Punahou’s Aquatics Department is to encourage student athletes, within the framework of the educational mission of the school, to be the best that they can be both in and out of the pool. The various programs provide instruction and competition for all levels of ability: from entry-level to college- and Olympic-level athletes.

Punahou Aquatics is seeking a Aquatics Specialist II (Assistant Waterpolo Coach). The ideal candidate will work with students ranging from 12-18 years old that are in both the developmental and competitive phase of the sport. The position will require mornings and/or evening practices during the week as well as the possibility of working weekends.

Position Details

  • Work Year: 1.5 Months
  • School Year: Summer School 2026
  • Work Hours: Tuesdays, 6:00 AM - 7:30 AM; Wednesday, 6:00 AM - 7:30 PM; Saturdays, 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM, Schedule will vary based on operational needs.
  • Minimum Hourly Rate*: $17.00/Hour - Compensation is commensurate with qualifications.

Pay for selected candidates will be determined by various factors such as knowledge, skills, abilities, relevant training and experience, and internal equity.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school Diploma or GED.
  • One (1) year of recent waterpolo coaching experience and/or equivalent experience.
  • Water Safety Instructor certification and/or equivalent experience.
  • Have/willing to obtain necessary USA Waterpolo Certifications.
  • Leadership experience preferred.
  • Positive, energetic and team oriented.
