The ELA Teacher is responsible for delivering standards-based instruction in reading, writing, and critical thinking for students in grades K-8. They must create an inclusive classroom environment and collaborate with parents and staff to support student growth.
A Bachelor's degree in Education or English and a valid teaching certification are required, with a Master's degree preferred. Candidates should have strong knowledge of literacy instruction and a commitment to the school's faith-centered mission.
Student Learning & Development
Foster critical thinking, creativity, and effective communication skills. Encourage a love of reading and writing through meaningful and engaging learning experiences. Support students’ academic, social, and emotional development. Promote student independence, organization, and responsibility appropriate to grade level.
Assessment & Progress Monitoring
Develop and administer assessments to evaluate student progress and literacy development. Provide timely, constructive feedback on student work, including writing and projects. Use data to inform instruction and provide targeted support or enrichment. Maintain accurate records of grades, assignments, and student progress.
Establish and maintain a structured, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment. Implement consistent classroom routines and behavior expectations. Create a positive culture that encourages collaboration, discussion, and mutual respect.
Communication & Collaboration
Communicate regularly and effectively with parents/guardians regarding student progress. Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and support staff to support student success. Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school initiatives.
