- Location: In Person Position Overview The Childcare Intern is responsible for assisting the childcare provider in creating a safe, nurturing, and enriching environment for children living at ACCESS. This role is ideal for students pursuing a degree in early childhood education or a related field who are passionate about serving women and children experiencing homelessness.
Qualifications
Currently pursuing a degree in child development, early childhood education, or a related field Minimum 1 year of childcare or teaching experience preferred Child Development Associate (CDA) Certification preferred Reliable personal transportation required Dedicated to the mission of serving women and children experiencing homelessness Self-motivated, creative, flexible, reliable, and detail-oriented Strong interpersonal, organizational, and follow-through skills
Responsibilities
Childcare & Programming Provide childcare during scheduled programming and additional hours as needed Supervise field trips to local points of interest (zoo, state parks, sporting events, etc.) Teach foundational skills to children, including reading, arts and crafts, and other enrichment activities Assist with facilitating summer activities with children Administrative & Team Support Assist at the Central Station front desk as needed Support case managers and other staff as needed Attend outside training opportunities as required Adhere to all policies and procedures outlined in the employee handbook and departmental procedure manuals Perform other duties as assigned by the Child Advocate Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally Ability to respond quickly to sounds and visual situations Occasionally required to reach, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl May be exposed to outdoor weather conditions Work environment noise level is generally moderate Background Requirements Must be willing to submit to a background check and drug screening
