Staff Assistant

About the Role

Beyond Karate is seeking dependable, compassionate, and adaptable Staff Assistants to assist across all programs we offer. This is a general support role designed to help instructors, staff, and participants in a variety of settings including martial arts classes, life skills development, tutoring, leadership workshops, enrichment activities, and seasonal camps.

Our programs serve children, teens, and adults of all abilities, including individuals with physical, developmental, and learning differences. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, supporting structured activities, and contributing to a positive, inclusive community environment.

Key Responsibilities but not limited to: Program & Activity Support

Assist instructors and staff across all programs including karate, life skills, tutoring, social circles, leadership workshops, art, cooking, and enrichment activities Support seasonal camp programming by assisting counselors with daily activities, transitions, and supervision Help prepare materials, set up spaces, and support smooth transitions between activities

Participant Support & Supervision

Provide support and supervision to participants of all ages and abilities Encourage positive behavior, participation, and engagement Assist participants as needed while maintaining dignity, respect, and inclusion Help ensure a safe, structured, and welcoming environment Operations & Team Support

Assist with attendance tracking and participant check-in/check-out Support classroom, dojo, and camp setup and clean-up Follow all safety, accessibility, and behavior guidelines Communicate observations, concerns, or needs to instructors and leadership Participate in training, meetings, and program preparation as required

Qualifications

Experience working with youth, adults, or individuals with disabilities is a plus (but not required) Positive attitude, patience, and adaptability Strong communication and teamwork skills Reliable, punctual, and professional CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain) Background check requireD
