Job description

  • Description BGCD’s Junior Youth Development Professional program offers paid employment and job readiness opportunities to teens ages 16-18 years of age. Participants may apply and interview for positions to support adult staff throughout the Club in the summer season, June and July. The Junior Youth Development Professional employees serve as positive role models for younger members and gain their first work experience with The Boys and Girls Club of Greater Dallas. Junior Youth Development Professional can develop leadership skills under the guidance of a thorough network of mentors and staff. Goals/ Outcomes
  • Mandatory Organizational Safety Training and Development
  • Provide Junior Team Members with direct employment responsibilities and job readiness skills within the Club environment.
  • Increase retention in the Club through paid leadership opportunities.
  • Keep teens involved in the Club community through a leadership role.
  • Prepare members for future quality employment responsibilities by focusing on holistic life skills and development.
  • Expose teens to possible career paths within youth development, culinary arts and other areas.
  • Offer support to Club program areas.
  • Junior Youth Development Professional Qualifications
  • Maintain a minimum 2.25 GPA
  • Must be at least 16 years of age and a member for a minimum of 1 year

  • Encouraged but not required knowledge in youth development and principles
  • Encouraged but not required experience working with children and youth
  • Encouraged but not required strong interpersonal communication skills required
  • Junior Youth Development Professional Roles The Junior Youth Development Professional can serve in all program areas under supervision with exceptions of the Teen Center and the Aquatics Center. The Junior Youth Development Professional positions are based on interest and need. Some of the basic club functions which Junior Youth Development Professional help facilitate are:
  • Under direct supervision of Adult Staff, supporting and monitoring younger members during club activities, rotations, and field trips.
  • Under direct supervision of Adult Staff, escorting younger members to program areas.
  • Under direct supervision of Adult Staff, supporting with activity set ups and breakdowns.

Junior Youth Development Professional Wage, Hours and Requirements • Frequency

  • Monday – Friday. Average of 5 hours per day/ no more than 20 hours per week. Hours are assigned to members based on interest, availability and club needs.
  • Wage: $15.00 per hour.
