Job summary

The Medical Assistant Instructor is responsible for instructing and implementing the Medical Assistant program to educate students according to established curriculum standards and objectives. This part-time evening role focuses on classroom delivery, student mentorship, and academic documentation.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS • Instructional Delivery

  • Design and deliver lesson plans using various teaching techniques to appeal to different learning styles during evening sessions.
  • Curriculum
  • Planning: Plan instruction to achieve specific objectives based on student needs and established Pima Medical Institute curriculum.
  • Academic
  • Grading: Evaluate, provide feedback, and grade student classwork, assignments, and papers within 72 hours of submission.
  • Student
  • Advisory: Maintain scheduled face-to-face office hours to advise and assist students; discuss and document academic or behavioral issues as they arise.
  • Documentation: Complete required documentation for student files, attendance, incident reports, and early alerts within 24 hours of occurrence.
  • Administrative
  • Engagement: Participate in faculty meetings, in-service opportunities, and professional development workshops.
  • Real-World
  • Integration: Arrange guest speakers and coordinate community service field trips or visits to clinics and medical offices.
  • Safety &
  • Security: Enforce safety and security standards for all students, staff, and visitors within the classroom and lab environment.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program (OR 3 years of job-related training and experience for non-graduates).
  • Experience: Three (3) years of full-time occupational (practical) experience in a healthcare facility, including at least 40 hours in an ambulatory healthcare setting.
  • Certification: Current Medical Assistant registration or certification through a nationally recognized agency (CMA or RMA).
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and general computer applications.
  • Licensure: Any additional license or credential required by Colorado state or federal laws.
