- Category: Coach Position Purpose To provide support for the Liberty Fine Arts Department. Essential Functions Assist varsity coaches in conducting practice sessions to develop cheerleading skills, routines, and stunts. Assist varsity coaches in teaching proper techniques for cheers, chants, and dance routines. Ensure the safety of all participants during practices and performances. Organize and manage team schedules, including practices, games, and competitions. Communicate effectively with parents, students, and school staff regarding team activities and expectations. Attend and support school events, games, and competitions where the cheer squad performs. Collaborate with other coaches and sponsors to coordinate events and activities. Maintain accurate records of team attendance, performance, and any injuries or incidents. Assist in fundraising efforts to support the cheer program and its activities. Provide mentorship and support to cheerleaders, helping them to set and achieve individual and team goals. This position may require evening and weekend hours for practices and events. Physical activity is required to supervise practices. Adheres to the Student Protection Policy (SPP) procedures and training. Responsibilities and tasks outlined in this document are not exhaustive and may change as determined by the needs of the school. Qualifications Previous cheerleading experience preferred, either as a participant or coach. Strong leadership and communication skills. Ability to motivate and inspire middle school students. Knowledge of cheerleading techniques, safety protocols, and first aid. A commitment to promoting a positive and inclusive environment for all participants. Serve as a Christian role model Physical Requirements and Work Environment Works in an environment with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and a varied and diverse array of contacts. May work at a desk and computer for extended periods of time. Regularly use close and distance vision. May stand for extended periods of time. Works primarily in a traditional climate-controlled environment. Be able to occasionally lift up to 30 lbs. Ability to communicate effectively (verbally and written). Ability to instruct and model desirable skills and attitude. Ability to remain productive and maintain control under stress. Ability to maintain a clear focus on a positive student experience.
