Laboratory assistant – medical assistant (Part-Time)

Compensation

$22.88 – $27.46 per hour

Position Summary

The Laboratory Assistant provides instructional support for Medical Assistant students, ensuring clinical skills are developed in accordance with established curriculum standards and program objectives. This role focuses on hands-on lab supervision, student assessment, and collaborative faculty support during evening hours.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS • Lab Implementation

  • Coordinate with program faculty to develop, set up, and implement clinical lab scenarios (e.g., phlebotomy, EKG, vitals) for student practice.

  • Mentorship: Meet regularly with students to provide guidance on academic performance and clinical skill progression.
  • Faculty
  • Collaboration: Maintain consistent communication with Didactic Instructors and Program Directors regarding individual student learning needs.

  • Management: Maintain confidential records of student performance, testing, and written assignments; ensure all module "check-off" sheets are completed and signed.

  • Proficiency: Maintain comprehensive familiarity with program objectives, clinical equipment operation, and safety protocols.

  • Support: Assist in grading homework and quizzes based on instructor keys; monitor lab supplies and submit replenishment requests.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program (OR 4 years of job-related training and experience for non-graduates).
  • Experience: Three (3) years of occupational (practical) experience as a Medical Assistant.
  • Certification: Current Medical Assistant registration or certification through a nationally recognized agency (CMA or RMA).
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and general computer operations.
  • Communication: Effective verbal and written communication skills.
