Job description

Laurel Springs School, a subsidiary of Spring Education Group, a WASC-accredited school, is a pioneer in online private school education since 1991. Laurel Springs provides flexible and personalized learning experiences online for students in kindergarten through 12th grade and beyond. Who We're Looking For: We are looking for a dedicated College Counselor who is passionate about supporting new and returning upper school (Grades 9 - 12) students' academic, college-career, and social-emotional development through collaborative partnership with students, parents, and LSS faculty and staff. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in college and school counseling, proficiency in building strong relationships through online tools, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to address the diverse needs of our student body.

Responsibilities

Develop and support programs tailored to accommodate the unique circumstances of our diverse student population. In collaboration with Academic Advisors, review transcripts of incoming students, including international student transcripts, to assist with the creation of course schedules as needed upon admission. Ensure students meet academic standards for grade promotion, graduation, and college acceptance. Facilitate grade level seminar courses for students and provide authentic and meaningful feedback on all assignments. Collaborate closely with upper school faculty and other staff regarding individual student support and to aid in the development of comprehensive programming that provides the highest level of support. Establish and maintain strong, supportive relationships with students and guardians through consistent communication via email, telephone, and video conferencing. Lead webinars, sessions, and activities focused on college-career readiness and social-emotional growth. Regularly contribute to newsletters and other similar school communications as assigned. Participate in school-wide events, including Year-End Celebrations and other virtual or onsite activities. Engage in ongoing professional development (internal and external), practice self-assessment, and strive for continuous improvement

Qualifications

Master’s degree or higher in School Counseling Active School Counseling certification and commitment to ongoing compliance with state and local regulations relating to background checks and credentials Minimum of 3 years of experience counseling or working in a school setting, ideally with a focus on upper school and/or college counseling. Experience supporting students through the college application process Demonstrated ability to implement programs with measurable objectives. Excellent skills with word processing, productivity, communication, and educational technology tools; expertise with G-Suite, Learning Management Systems, and Student Information Systems strongly preferred Strong analytical and evaluative skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks. Access to dependable and high-quality internet and a quiet workspace that allows the counselor to be fully present and available to students, parents, and colleagues as needed during typical work hours (Monday through Friday from 8:30 am - 5pm ET) and during periodic evening events as assigned Ability to travel to attend in-person events, meetings, and training opportunities at least once or twice per year To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
