- The First Grade Teacher is responsible for providing high‑quality instruction that supports students’ academic, spiritual, social, and emotional growth while fostering a safe, welcoming, and Christ‑centered classroom environment.
- Job Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate instruction aligned with diocesan and school curriculum standards.
- Integrate Catholic teachings, values, and traditions into daily instruction and classroom routines.
- Establish and maintain a positive, respectful, and structured classroom environment.
- Support the academic, social, emotional, and spiritual development of first‑grade students.
- Assess student progress using a variety of formative and summative assessments and communicate progress with families.
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs and abilities.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student performance.
- Collaborate with fellow teachers, support staff, and administration to support student success and school initiatives.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with parents and guardians.
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, school liturgies, and events.
- Supervise students during classroom activities and transitions.
- Uphold school policies and actively support the mission of Catholic education.
- Maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field required.
- Valid teaching certification preferred (or ability to obtain per diocesan requirements).
- Prior elementary teaching experience preferred; experience in primary grades a plus.
- Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of early elementary curriculum and instructional best practices.
- Commitment to student‑centered learning and academic excellence.
- Practicing Catholic preferred; must support and respect Catholic teachings and traditions.
