Job Summary

Provides sign language interpretation in all school environments for students who communicate through sign language

  • What you will do
  • Provide professional and accurate sign language interpretation for designated students, both expressively and receptively, in the student’s communication mode in all school settings, including school sponsored extra-curricular activities.
  • Facilitate communication between students who use American Sign Language, their hearing peers, classroom teachers and other school personnel.
  • Provide other needed support services to designated students, attend meetings and in-services and participate as part of a student’s educational team.
  • Report progress and/or concerns to the student’s Case Manager.
  • Collect and record data of students’ performances and/or behavior and complete other duties as assigned.
  • Follow strict codes of confidentiality.
  • Effectively advocate for students’ communication needs across the school environment and participate in discussions with school personnel and related in-service trainings.
  • Exhibit flexibility to school and schedule changes and demonstrate team support and cooperation.
