Job description

  • About River Edge Behavioral Health Serving more than 10,000 Georgians, River Edge continues to be one of the state's leading resources for mental health, substance use disorder treatments and supports as well as individuals with intellectual and development disabilities.
  • River Edge offers outpatient services at our Emery Highway-Macon, Monroe County and Baldwin County locations.
  • Outpatient services include behavioral health, nursing, and psychiatric assessment, stabilization and medication maintenance services as well as crisis intervention services as well as awareness, education and recovery groups.
  • CAI Instructor I Assists with daily living activities at the person's home, in a daytime non-residential facility or a residential facility.
  • Observes and monitors client’s behavior and charts observations and incidents.
  • Provides training of basic personal and social skills, simple academics, or work skills to consumers/students in a state school, hospital, juvenile detention facility, residence, group home, workshop, or supported employment environment.
  • May assist with meal preparation, ensuring or encouraging client group activity, providing transportation, and/or limited case management.

Responsibilities

Instructs and advises clients/residents on daily living skills in one-on-one setting. Observes and monitors client behavior. Counsels and advises clients on behavioral problems, daily decision-making, and the resolution of minor problems. Assists with the development of an individual service/treatment plan for each assigned consumer/student. Participates in case reviews, consulting with the team to evaluate the client's needs and plan for continuing services. Prepares and maintains records of client progress and services performed, reporting changes in client condition to manager or supervisor. Provides transportation for clients/residents to appointments and activities. Arranges for needed medical care and provides needed services to assure that medical care is obtained during day services hours. Occasionally, this position may be required to cover Day centers. Occasionally, assists in presentation of educational group lectures related to appropriate topics. Technical Competencies Ability to observe and monitor participants’ behavior. Ability to serve as a liaison between all interested parties. Ability to serve as a member of the treatment team to develop participants’ goals and objectives. Knowledge of program area. Ability to prepare area specific reports. Knowledge of available resources. Ability to communicate both orally and in writing. Knowledge of various recreational activities. Ability to plan recreational activities for participants. Ability to participate in supportive guidance, consumer staffing and service training. Knowledge of agency safety policies and procedures. Ability to operate state vehicles following all safety laws and procedures. Ability to identify and report facility repairs and equipment problems. Conflict resolution skills. Ability to complete participant orientation sessions. Ability to identify disruptive behavior. Ability to train participants in personal hygiene and other daily living activities. Ability to recognize contributions and celebrate accomplishments. Ability to conduct individual and group training sessions for participants. Knowledge of agency accepted disciplinary techniques. Knowledge of agency accepted group/interview techniques. Ability to develop teaching aids. Location/ Schedule: 139 Woodfield Drive, Macon/ Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:00pm.

Qualifications

High School diploma or GED required. CNA professional is not required but is helpful. One year of Development Disabilities experience. Provide 2 professional references. Valid driver’s license.
