  • Hours for teachers and students may vary slightly by school.K-8 Staff: 7:30am - 4:30pm, K-8 Students: 8:00am - 3:30pm, Wednesday K-8 student dismissal is at 1:30pm High School Staff: 6:45am - 3:45pm, High School Students: 7:15am - 2:30pm, Wednesday High School student dismissal is at 12:30pm.
  • Every Wednesday is a student early release day, which allows teachers to participate in weekly professional development and content team meetings. *This doesn’t include Wellness Wednesdays when all staff leave at student dismissal.

  • Job DescriptionPOSITION SUMMARY Paraprofessionals support the instructional program and daily operations of the school by assisting teachers, students, and administrators.
  • At KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools, paraprofessionals provide instructional assistance, operational support, and flexible coverage to ensure consistent learning experiences and a well-managed school environment.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesNote: This job description applies to all paraprofessional positions (K–12).
  • Specific assignments, schedules, and instructional duties may vary by grade level, school model, or program needs.
  • Instructional SupportAssist teachers in implementing instructional activities and small group interventions.Support student learning through one-on-one or group assistance, including literacy and math reinforcement.Help monitor student progress and support assessment administration (e.g., progress monitoring, benchmarks).Prepare instructional materials, learning aids, and resources.Classroom and School OperationsServe as first-level substitute coverage for assigned grade level or subject area.Assist with arrival, dismissal, lunch, and recess duties.Support discipline processes (e.g., escorting students, classroom supervision during teacher step-outs).Maintain a safe, orderly, and positive learning environment.Provide logistical assistance to teachers—copying, organizing assignments, grading basic work, etc.Testing and Data SupportMonitor testing environments following district and state guidelines.Assist with student data collection such as DIBELS, progress monitoring, or other required assessments.Family and Community EngagementSupport grade level attendance calls, family communication, and registration/re-enrollment processes.Assist with family engagement events and take photos or documentation for school communication and social media (if applicable).Team and School CultureParticipate in professional learning and school-level meetings.Collaborate with staff to maintain consistency across instruction, classroom management, and school operations.Model professionalism, respect, and equity in all interactions.Physical RequirementsAbility to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 25 lbs occasionally.Able to actively monitor students indoors and outdoors in various conditions.Key CompetenciesStudent-Centered Mindset: Prioritizes support for learning and engagement.Collaboration: Works effectively with teachers, staff, students, and families.Flexibility: Adapts to schedule changes, coverage needs, or unexpected demands.Dependability: Demonstrates reliability and professionalism daily. **Paraprofessionals are 100% grant funded by federal Title I funding and therefore, are contingent on receiving that funding each year.**
