- Job Summary The Department of Literature and Language at East Tennessee State University seeks qualified instructors to fill part-time positions teaching American Sign Language courses.
- These are in-person positions, and classes will be taught on the Johnson City, Tennessee main campus.
- Located in the Appalachian Highlands of Northeast Tennessee between the Great Smoky Mountains and the Blue Ridge Mountains, East Tennessee State University is a state-assisted and Carnegie-classified Doctoral Research Intensive University of more than 15,000 students.
- The Department of Literature and Language is a large, vibrant, and diverse department made up of English, World Languages, Film and Media Studies, Creative Writing, and other related disciplines.
- These are temporary, adjunct positions, filled on a semester-by-semester basis with some opportunity for renewal.
- Adjunct faculty positions do not include benefits.
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities The successful candidate will be qualified to teach courses in American Sign Language and/or Deaf Culture.
- Experience teaching American Sign Language in a post-secondary setting.
- Required Qualifications The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in ASL, ASL Instruction, Deaf Culture/Education, or a closely-related field.

- Equivalent combinations of education and directly related professional experience may also be considered.
