- FTE 0.8 Scheduled Bi-Weekly Hours 64 Work Shift Day: 8 hours Job Description The Nursing Professional Development (NPD) Specialist plays a vital role in advancing the practice of nursing through the development, implementation, evaluation of educational programs, fostering professional growth, and ensuring nursing competencies meet high standards.
- The NPD Specialist works closely with nursing leadership and interdisciplinary teams to provide educational support, drive continuous improvement, and enhance the quality of patient care through evidence-based practices.
- The NPD Specialist is responsible for identifying and addressing the learning needs of nursing staff through the design and implementation of effective educational programs.
- This includes developing orientations, continuing education initiatives, and competency assessments that align with clinical and organizational goals.
- This role also involves providing mentorship and support to clinical staff and facilitating their career development through ongoing professional growth opportunities.
- The NPD Specialist continually promotes quality improvement initiatives, integrating them into educational offerings to support safe, high-quality patient care.
- The specific focus areas of the NPD Specialist may vary depending on the area to which they are assigned, such as a general role or a role within areas like critical care, telemetry, or other clinical specialties.
- Qualifications Education Bachelors in Nursing degree (BSN) required.
- Master of Nursing degree (MSN) preferred.
- Certification in Nursing Professional Development (NPD-BC ®) preferred.
- Experience Minimum of 2 years clinical nursing experience in specialty required.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in nursing education or a related field preferred.

- Demonstrate ability to mentor, coach, and support professional development of nursing staff.
- Strong analytical skills to assess learning outcomes and drive improvements.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Learning Management Systems (i.e.

- Ages of Patients Served This position will serve all age groups one year of age or greater.
Salary Range
