Job description

Description Under the supervision of the Camp Director, the Waterfront Director will be expected to supervise the waterfront at Camp Lowe--being responsible for the waterfront safety and overall supervision of teaching of YMCA swimming lessons, guarding of free swimming, and the leading of boating.

This is a summer seasonal position with a start date of June 29th going through August 28th. Shift will begin at 7:00am and end at 5:30pm Monday-Friday; occasional evenings for staff meetings & weekends as necessary for special events.

Job Responsibilities

The Waterfront Director must fulfill all lifeguard duties/expectations which include the following: Follow Board of Health regulations for running a swim area Plan and implement daily lessons and free swims. Schedule lifeguard shifts and supervisor lifeguards to ensure that all policies are being followed. Maintains active surveillance of the waterfront area and ensure the safer of campers and staff at the waterfront area. Check the waterfront for hazardous conditions when arriving. Performs equipment checks and ensures appropriate equipment is available when needed. Remains calm and objective when under pressure or challenge by others and responds to challenges with possible solutions in a timely manner. Maintains accurate records as required of the YMCA and/or state health department code. Attend all staff trainings and meetings. Knows, understands, and consistently safety rules, policies, and guidelines for the waterfront area. Other duties as assigned by the Camp Director.

Qualifications

. Must be a minimum of 21 years of age. Must have 2 months prior experience in supervisory role at a similar aquatic facility and/or verification in aquatics management/supervision. Current certifications required: Basic Life Support or Professional Rescuer CPR/AED, first aid, Emergency Oxygen Administration, and Lifeguard certification from the YMCA or equivalent Must be able to demonstrate lifeguard skills in accordance to YMCA standards and able to sit, stand, & supervise for longer periods of time outside in various weather conditions; heat, rain, wind etc.. Job Type: Seasonal Schedule: Up to 50 hours per week. Monday-Friday between the hours of 7:00am-5:30pm.

Pay

$21.00/hr for new hires, $22.00/hr for returning Waterfront Directors with 1 year employment history. Plus, access to YMCA facilities for all YMCA Employees & Employee Assistance Program available
