Job description
Upper Room KC is seeking a dedicated Youth Development Leader to support our licensed Afterschool Program. Under the supervision of the Site Director, this role plans and leads engaging activities while ensuring a safe, inclusive, and structured environment for youth.
Responsibilities
- Plan and lead recreational and educational activities (sports, arts & crafts, academic support, social development)
- Ensure activities are age-appropriate and aligned with program goals
- Provide direct supervision at all times — student safety is the top priority
- Use positive behavior management techniques
- Respond to emergencies and administer first aid as needed
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians
- Follow all state licensing regulations and organizational policies
- Participate in staff meetings and ongoing training
Qualifications
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Experience working with youth preferred
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to lead and engage children in structured activities
- CPR & First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Must pass background screening and meet Missouri DHSS child care requirements
- Medical and TB risk assessments required
