Position summary

Serve as assistant coach to Men's Soccer program during Fall, Winter and Spring seasons, while participating in the Graduate Assistantship program at USM. The responsibility of each Graduate Assistant is to help in the day-to-day functioning of each program.

Essential functions

  • Oversee the conduct, discipline and positive character development of student-athletes by using the guidelines and principles of the USM Mission and the NAIA Champions of Character initiative.
  • Counsel student-athletes in personal development and academic success.
  • Teach and promote the USM Mission values of community, respect, justice and excellence.
  • Assists with directing the conditioning of student athletes to achieve maximum athletic performance.
  • Responsible for administering NAIA, KCAC and USM policies pertaining to recruitment and student-athlete eligibility.
  • Assist with recruitment efforts for USM athletic teams.
  • Assist sport program with duties assigned by the Athletic Director and/or Head Coach.
  • Works with the Athletic Department in all sport management, information, promotions, fundraising, and recruitment efforts.
  • Assist in the recruitment of prospective student-athletes
  • Assist in the facilitation and monitoring of academic study time with student-athletes
  • Assist in the preparation of practice and game planning
  • Assist in the scheduling of matches
  • Conduct off-season workouts with the student-athletes
  • Compile statistics and research/study game film
  • Coordinate the use of and help maintain the soccer field playing surfaces
  • Complete appropriate paperwork for institution and conference deadlines
  • Performs additional job related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Must meet eligibility for USM Graduate Assistantship program.
  • Three (3) years related experience preferred.
  • Working and/or player knowledge of NCAA, NAIA or KCAC rules and regulations preferred.
