Job description

Description St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic School is seeking an experienced elementary teacher. The teacher fosters the faith formation, social, emotional, and cognitive development of children by creating a safe, engaging, learning environment. Key responsibilities include designing lesson plans, conducting assessments, and maintaining consistent communication with parents to support student progress.

This role includes but is not limited to the following

Instruction: Develop and implement engaging lesson plans focusing on reading, math, science, religio, and social studies. Develop and deliver lesson plans that align with diocesan curriculum standards in core subjects.

Assessment

  • Monitor student developmental milestones and academic progress, providing individual support or intervention as needed.

  • Management: Establish and enforce classroom rules, creating a nurturing and safe environment for young learners.

  • Development: Support the faith formation of all students. Support students social, emotional, and cognitive growth, addressing diverse learning needs.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Education Professional Educator License State of Illinois Strong knowledge and practice of Catholicism Patience, creativity, strong communication, organization, and passion for child development. Knowledge of child development, curriculum, instructional best practices, and assessment. Strong interpersonal communication skills for interacting with students, staff, and parents
