Job description

  • The Peer Mentor shares the responsibility for ensuring that our Young Adults receive professional, safe care in a well-maintained and secure environment.
  • In this function the Peer Mentor shares the responsibility to ensure that YMCA, DCF/DMH and DEEC policies are applied.
  • The Peer Mentor will utilize their experiences, communication skills, knowledge of treatment systems and motivational and encouragement skills to support our Young Adults.
  • The Peer Mentor will provide our Young Adults with a positive role model, work to enhance the self-worth of our Young Adults and assist our Young Adults with their efforts at reaching their full potential.
  • The Peer Mentor will contribute to a positive work environment by illustrating pride in his/her job and cooperation with their co-workers.
  • The Peer Mentor will reflect and display the Old Colony Y values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or the equivalent
  • Work related experience working with adolescents preferred.
  • Experience within Social Services.
  • Associates or Bachelors Degree in Human Services (preferred, not required).
