Job description
- Specific responsibilities
- Assist in the development of a multicultural and multi‑sensory recreational program, including Special Physical Education, Art, Music, and other therapeutic or leisure activities.
- Collaborate with supervisors and childcare workers to implement planned recreational activities for all residents, both on‑grounds and off‑grounds.
- Complete all required documentation for recreation activities on a daily basis, as well as summaries and reports for weekly Family Team Conferences.
- Assist with the planning and implementation of campus celebrations and special events.
- Ensure that all rules, regulations, and safety procedures are followed and enforced at all times.
- Work directly with residents after school, on weekends, and during school vacations, with scheduling flexibility based on the needs of the RTC.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support program operations.
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in education, Special Education, Recreation, Physical Education, or Creative Arts Therapies
- Experience working with individuals with MR/DD populations
- Strong spelling, grammar, and written communication skills
- Computer literate with the ability to complete electronic documentation
- Valid and clean New York State Driver’s License

- Working conditions
- 15 hours per week, Permanent schedule of four (4) days per week, 3:30 PM – 6:30 PM
- 12 hours weekend, Saturday and Sunday 11 AM - 5 PM
- Availability required for special trips, events, and activities
