Job description
- YMCA Camps Foss and Mitena have provided a meaningful summer experience for campers for over 100 years.
- We are currently hiring Registered Nurses for the 2026 summer.
- Camp Foss is located in Stafford, NH and Camp Mitena is located in Alton, NH.
- We are seeking nurses who would reside on camp to provide nursing services.
- Nurses are hired at a one week minimum, ideally for two weeks or longer.
- Dates are between July 26th to August 22nd, or any combination of.
- Additionally we are also hiring substitute nurses which involves coverage for 1 day a week (4pm-4pm) over the course of the 8 week camp season.
- Responsibilities Include: routine nursing care to campers, counselors and staff according to physicians’ orders and instructions.
- Emergency care to campers, counselors and staff involved in accidents or injury.
- Set up, maintenance and breakdown of the health center including supplies.
- Processing all forms pertaining to insurance coverage, accident reports and documentation of nursing care.
- Communication of nursing care and medical attention to parents as well as information regarding campers to the nursing and medical team.
- Check and monitor the registration system for all current or incoming camper files.
- Maintain a positive relationship with local hospitals, Alton Family Medicine and urgent care.
- Set up and implement a nursing schedule.
- Work with Camp Director in implementing policies and procedures to ensure a safe camp Position Specifics: On site, with private residence area within the health center (Strafford/Alton NH) On call, with specific times for medication delivery and sick calls One 24 hour time period off camp per week (4pm-4pm) Minimum one week commitment
Qualifications
Candidates must be a licensed RN for the State of New Hampshire and are required to live on-site during camp. Ability to effectively communicate with families about care provided, ability to accurately track care on a digital platform. Criminal background check and fingerprinting will be completed upon being offered a position

Family housing and meals included Generous discount for children to attend Camp Mi-Te-Na or Camp Foss Pay: Salary ranges start at $1,100 per week. Sub nurse salary is pro-rated to a daily rate to account for actual time worked
