Position Summary
- The Department of Psychology is seeking a motivated, self-directed and experienced Graduate Program Advisor to provide guidance and advisement to our Psychology Ph.D. students and manage program. To be successful in this position, you must be organized, detail oriented, and able to perform a variety of student support duties for a large academic department. Duties will include, but not limited to: Provide guidance and advisement services to graduate students in our Ph.D. program; manage graduate admissions, maintain graduate student files and manage the graduate student database. Serve as the department liaison to the Office of Graduate Studies (OGS): Assist in the processing and submission of OGS forms and ensure students meet requirements for graduation (exams, programs of studies, and committees…), and attend monthly OGS meetings. Graduate program recruitment and admissions: Work with the department admissions committee and manage applications to the Ph.D. program each year. Provide graduate program information to potential students and undergraduate students interested in graduate school. Assist with graduate program events: coordinate the annual open house (spring), new graduate student orientation (August), and the department annual research day (spring). Maintain graduate program documents and statistical data and report data as needed: Psychology Graduate Student Guidelines handbook, graduate recruitment brochures, admissions data. Report data for accreditation and committees as needed and keep admissions data on the website current. Responsible for the department catalog and curriculum published annually on the UNM Catalog. Process Graduate Student Assistantship contracts. Assist with building the schedule of classes. Develop and present workshops, lectures, and student orientation. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills and customer service skills, strong computer skills, previous experience with graduate programs at UNM, OGS Forms, and database management and running reports. ****The final salary for this position is dependent upon total Education and Experience***
