About the Role

  • The Recreation Leader - Certified Fitness Instructor plays a pivotal role in promoting health and wellness within the community by designing and leading engaging fitness programs tailored to diverse participant needs.
  • This position requires the ability to motivate individuals of all ages and fitness levels, ensuring safe and effective exercise practices.
  • The role involves collaborating with community members and other staff to create inclusive recreational activities that foster physical activity and social interaction.
  • The Recreation Leader will also monitor participant progress, provide feedback, and adapt programs to maximize benefits and maintain high levels of participation.
  • Ultimately, this position contributes to enhancing the overall quality of life and well-being of community members through professional fitness instruction and leadership.

We are looking for Certified Instructors to fill our Silver Sneakers, Les Mills, Cycling, Pilates, and Aqua Zumba openings.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Current certification as a fitness instructor from a nationally recognized organization (e.g., ACE, NASM, ACSM).
  • CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Demonstrated experience leading group fitness classes or recreational activities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with diverse populations.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required by program schedules.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Additional certifications in specialized fitness areas such as yoga, Pilates, or strength training.
  • Experience working in community recreation or public health settings.
  • Knowledge of adaptive fitness techniques for individuals with disabilities or special needs.
  • Experience with program development and community outreach.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, plan, and lead a variety of fitness classes and recreational activities suitable for different age groups and fitness levels.
  • Ensure the safety of all participants by demonstrating proper exercise techniques and monitoring class environments.
  • Provide motivation, encouragement, and individualized support to participants to help them achieve their fitness goals.
  • Collaborate with other recreation staff and community organizations to promote fitness programs and increase community engagement.
