Mentors are selected by their partnering OR 100 instructor. OR 100 Student mentors assist OR 100 instructors with leading class and assist with leadership in First Class sessions.
Responsibilities
Serve as a liaison between FIRST CLASS large group and First Year Experience small group by: Engaging first-year students using games, skits, etc., in FIRST CLASS large group Taking attendance in large group Being prepared to lead class discussion/reflection regarding the material covered in the large group time (using questions provided by FIRST CLASS) Partner with the small group instructor by: Building intentional and meaningful relationships with students inside and outside of class, which will assist them in making the transition to college Meeting with your small group instructor regularly for planning, processing and development, and providing your small group instructor with your contact information Attending all small group class sessions and assist the instructor as needed Participating in and helping lead your students throughout a class service project Taking pictures of your group of students throughout the semester Partner with assigned first-year success coach by: Attending mentor trainings and regular meetings with first-year success coach Seeking advice and guidance from first-year success coach in serving first-year students Qualifications: Have a Christian commitment Be in academic area that matches OR 100 section Be in good academic standing Be an active participant in the campus community Be willing to invest time in mentoring first year students Be willing to work to assist in OR 100 and First Class as needed Be a good example of what we want a CU student to be Campbellsville University is a comprehensive, Christian institution that offers non-credit technical programs, along with certificates, associates, undergraduate and graduate programs.
